Winnipeg police have arrested a man after a child was sent to hospital following a hit-and-run incident. Police said it happened in the 500 block of North Point Boulevard in the West Kildonan area on Thursday. Around 5:30 p.m., police said they received a report that a 2025 Dodge Ram had hit a child riding their bike. Investigators said the child was riding their bike in front of a housing complex when the driver of the truck struck the child while leaving a parking lot. The driver did not stay on scene, police said. The child was taken to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable. Police were able to identify the driver and he was later arrested at his home. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Police said he was released on an appearance notice. The charges against him have not been tested in court.
