A woman has been transported to hospital for treatment after being rescued from a popular swimming area in Ottawa’s Rockcliffe Park neighbourhood. Emergency crews responded to a call at a body of water off Pond Street at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Friday. “Numerous people were in the water when an older woman was noticed face down and unresponsive,” the Ottawa Police Service said in a statement. “She was removed from the water, and CPR was performed by bystanders and first responders.” Police say the woman’s pulse and breathing were re-established, and “she was transported to hospital for further medical care.” The Caldwell-Carver Conservation Area includes McKay Lake and a smaller body of water called The Pond. According to the City of Ottawa’s website, “limited unsupervised swimming” is permitted in The Pond between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. only. Public swimming is not permitted in McKay Lake next to The Pond, the city says.
