Mounties say a woman’s vehicle was hit by a train near Mission, B.C. after she “thought the train tracks were a street.” According to Mission RCMP, a 34-year-old woman from Rosedale was driving her Nissan Kicks SUV near a section of Hawkins Pickle Road in Dewdney at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 4 when she mistook the tracks for a roadway. Police say she quickly got stuck and attempted to push her car off the tracks. She then changed her mind and walked away, Mounties say, when she saw a train heading towards the stuck vehicle. The train collided with her vehicle and came to a stop, which police say blocked the crossing for an extended period of time. Police explain that the woman failed two roadside screening tests and “exhibited signs of impairment.” “She received a 90-day driving prohibition, and her vehicle (what was left of it) was impounded for 30 days,” Mission RCMP said, in a statement.
