A Westman health centre is in the Christmas spirit after receiving a generous gift. In a media release sent Friday, Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) Foundation’s chair Stacy Senkbeil said a million-dollar donation from Westman residents Gord and Diane Peters felt like an early Christmas present. “Their kindness embodies the spirit of the holiday season and will have a lasting impact on patient care across Westman,” said Senkbeil. The donation is going towards a capital campaign for BRHC’s new critical care centre, which is currently under construction. “Our medical facility in Brandon is critical in servicing the needs of our Westman community, keeping it strong and vibrant,” the couple said in the release. The centre would be a 24-7 intensive care facility with 16 beds and an intensive care unit. A capital fund aims to raise $4 million to build the centre and purchase equipment for it. The foundation told CTV News Winnipeg it has raised roughly $2.3 million so far.” The centre is set to open early next year.
