The Windsor Police Service is increasing its patrols in the downtown area. This is part of the Strengthen the Core initiative, responding to concerns of drug use, criminal activity, and other disruptive behaviours. It will run from Tuesday through Thursday. There will be more officers doing foot and mobile patrols, engaging with residents, business owners, and visitors, responding to concerns, and taking enforcement action when necessary. “Our downtown belongs to everyone, and people should be able to spend time there feeling confident and safe,” said Ken Cribley, WPS deputy chief of operations. “This three-day initiative puts additional officers on the streets to address concerns we are hearing from our community, with a particular focus on public drug use. Our officers will be highly visible, engaged with the community, and respond to concerns as they arise.” Community members are encouraged to speak with officers during the initiative and share safety concerns in the area.
