VANCOUVER — Unionized Metro Vancouver bus drivers and other transit workers will vote next week on a tentative deal with the Coast Mountain Bus Company. Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 say members will vote on Monday on the agreement reached last week after talks first began in February. However, the union says a full strike completely withdrawing bus and SeaBus service across Metro Vancouver would be launched on Wednesday at midnight if members reject the deal. Union members have already rejected two tentative agreements reached in the bargaining process and have authorized strike action in a vote of more than 99 per cent. The tentative deal was reached with the help of a mediator after talks stalled, triggering job action by workers including a uniform ban and a refusal to give up break times to operate bus routes running behind schedule.
