A medical issue is being blamed after a car veered into a building in Courtenay Saturday.

It was travelling northbound on Cliffe Avenue when witnesses say it drove off the road and plowed through a hedge and stop sign before slamming into a dance studio.

Two seniors were in the car and were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“The one vehicle veered off the road into the building, very lucky it didn’t strike any other vehicle or any other people,” said Greg Lamb with the Courtenay Fire Department.

Two people inside the building at the time of the crash were not injured.
