Lovers of all things marijuana will once again pack Victoria's Centennial Square Friday for what could be the city's final 4/20 smoke-in.
The Victoria Cannabis Buyers Club is planning the 21st annual event and says it is the last one before marijuana becomes legalized throughout Canada.
"This will be the 21st year we gather on April 20 in Centennial Square to smoke massive amounts of cannabis and it will be the last one before prohibition officially ends in Canada," the organization wrote on a Facebook event page. "Let's make history this April 20th with an amazing final prohibition party!"
According to the event page, the event is scheduled to take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. with a massive light-up planned the second the clock strikes 4:20 p.m.
There is also a film crew scheduled to use Centennial Square on Friday to shoot scenes for Pup Star: Christmas. There's no word on whether the events will conflict with one another.
Organizers of last year's event said a noticeably smaller crowd attended than the year before, likely because of the federal government's legalization announcement.
In March, senators passed the Liberal government's legalization bill. The bill, C-45, is now in the hands of the committee study stage in the Senate.
While the government previously promised cannabis would be legalized by July 2018, the timeline has been delayed, possibly for two to three months.
