A man who spurred a manhunt across Vancouver Island after he allegedly held up a cyclist for their electric bike was arrested Thursday, according to police.

Michael Godolphin was arrested without incident by Comox Valley RCMP in Courtenay just after 2:30 p.m., according to Saanich police.

Godolphin will appear in court Friday to face a number of charges stemming from two separate robberies in Saanich.

Police say on Tuesday, Godolphin pulled a gun on a London Drugs loss prevention officer who approached him for alleged shoplifting.

They say he then took off to the Lochside Trail, where he allegedly held up a cyclist for their bike.

On Wednesday, Nanaimo RCMP said they received two reported sightings of Godolphin in that city, but he was not caught.

Residents were on high alert because Godolphin, who was arrested after a police standoff in Langford in 2015, was considered armed and dangerous.

Police say Godolphin will also face charges for other criminal code offences that took place in Courtenay on Thursday.
