Researchers with the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) have confirmed a tornado recently formed over a lake in Saskatchewan’s north. In an update published Sunday, the NTP confirmed a waterspout tornado occurred at Christopher Lake on the evening of Aug. 14. The tornado, which reportedly touched down at 6:30 p.m., didn’t cause any damage. The storm has been assigned a preliminary rating of EF0. Witnesses in the area reportedly captured video and photos of the tornado. A review of satellite imagery taken of the lakeshore is pending. Christopher Lake is located around 40 kilometres north of Prince Albert. The annual tornado count rises to 36 with the addition of the waterspout tornado, not including five downbursts.
