A trucking company is facing charges under Saskatchewan’s Immigration Services Act. Jorowar Singh and JD Trucking Ltd. have both been charged with making or signing any false statements, providing false statements or providing any false, misleading, or inaccurate information – violating section 7-6(1) of the ISA. Singh and JD Trucking Ltd. appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 2, with proceedings adjourned until Sept. 28. “While the ISA and FWRISA specifically protect against the unique situations that immigrants and foreign workers may find themselves in, all employees, whether Canadian citizens or permanent and temporary residents, are protected by employment standards and occupational health and safety provisions within The Saskatchewan Employment Act,” the province noted in its news release. JD Trucking is listed as operating a truck terminal on the North Service Road in Moose Jaw.
