Five new judges have been appointed to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan, the government announced Friday. The new appointments will fill vacancies in addition to the new judicial positions announced in the provincial budget. Darin Chow has been appointed to the Provincial Court in Moose Jaw. He was a partner with Chow McLeod from 1997 to 2012, where he practiced criminal, family, and administrative law, before his appointment to the bench. Roger DeCorby, appointed to the Provincial Court in Yorkton, has years of experience prosecuting serious Criminal Code offences, leading specialized units, mentoring junior lawyers and serving as director of the province’s high risk offender program. Alexandra Findlay, appointed to Saskatoon’s provincial court, has experience in criminal law, complex litigation, and prosecutorial decision making, working closely with vulnerable and marginalized populations. Suzanne Lalonde has been appointed to Regina’s provincial court. She has been a staff lawyer with Legal Aid Saskatchewan since 2008 and has focused on criminal defence and representing those facing complex challenges. Jason Peszko, appointed to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert, built a practice with experience in criminal defence, real estate, wills and estates, tax enforcement, municipal law, corporate law, and commercial law. “These new judges have demonstrated a deep commitment to the law, to public service, and to the communities they serve,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Tim McLeod said in the provincial update. “Their appointments will enhance the strength and capacity of Saskatchewan’s Provincial Court and support fair, accessible, and effective justice for people across the province.”
