On top of numerous counts of breaking and entering, a 68-year-old man has been charged with resisting arrest. Last week, Regina police pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Angus Street. Police say it had been registered to a driver that was wanted in relation to several break and enter investigations. After exiting the vehicle as instructed, Regina police say he tried to push past the officers. “The suspect was taken to the ground, where he continued to resist arrest and reached towards the officer’s duty belt. Additional officers arrived and assisted in gaining control of the suspect. He was subsequently arrested without further incident,” read a news release issued Tuesday. According to police, one of the officers suffered a broken hand during the arrest. As a result, the 68-year-old has been charged with resisting arrest on top of five counts of breaking and entering and three counts of disguise with intent. He made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 11.
