Crews and volunteers were busy in Regina on Friday preparing for the city’s annual Pride parade set to take place on Saturday. Organizers spent the day assembling and decorating floats as one of the city’s largest celebrations of inclusion and diversity gets underway. Community groups, local businesses and advocacy organizations are expected to participate, with thousands anticipated to attend. Among those taking part is YMCA Harbour Landing, where staff say showing support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community is central to their values. “We are doing this because we really want to be present,” Dakota Walsh, a director of childcare at YMCA Harbour Landing said. “One of our main core values is inclusivity. So, we want to make sure that we’re really showing up and being there and being present for everybody.” Road closures will be in effect throughout the downtown core, with events and festivities scheduled throughout the day.
