Those in Saskatchewan hoping to see the conclusion of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy in an IMAX venue are in luck. Tickets for Dune: Part Three are now on sale at Regina’s Kramer IMAX theatre. “Insider screenings” are slated for Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 at 6 p.m., while a single 6:30 p.m. screening is slated for Thursday, Dec. 17. Regular showings, running from 9:20 a.m. to 10:20 p.m., begin Friday, Dec. 18 and are scheduled to run until Jan. 13, 2027. Dune: Part Three is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel “Dune Messiah” and picks up years after the conclusion of Part Two. The story will follow the now Emperor Paul Atreides as he fights a prophesized holy war — sparked by his ascension to the galactic throne. Regina hosts one of only 41 theatres across the globe capable of projecting the film on IMAX 70mm film. Dune: Part Three was shot on a combination of 70mm film and IMAX digital. The Kramer IMAX Theatre recently extended its screening schedule of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The adaptation of Homer’s epic poem has grossed $1.29 billion worldwide as of Aug. 18.
