It was a dream come true Thursday night for Saskatchewan’s Jess Moskaluke, as the country singer took the stage at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Moskaluke, who hails from the small town of Langenburg, was surprised at last month’s Canadian Country Music Awards in Saskatoon, where she was told she was being invited to perform at the iconic venue. Not normally short on words, the Canadian songbird used just two words on social media to describe performing at the Opry. “A dream,” Moskaluke wrote on the Opry’s post. Moskaluke was one of several Canadian country music stars to hit the stage Thursday night, as part of the ‘Grand Ole Opry: Celebrating 50 years of the CCMA’ event. Other Canadians that performed included Weyburn’s Tenille Arts, who made her Opry debut in 2019, as well as Brett Kissel, Paul Brandt, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Gord Bamford, Tami Neilson and Terri Clark. The Grand Ole Opry was founded in Nashville in 1925 and is described as “the home of country music where artists and fans gather, in person and virtually, to celebrate and be part of country’s past, present and future.” A who’s who of country music greats have performed at the Opry over the years, including Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood.
