Mounties are searching for a suspect after a man was shot on his property in North Courtenay early Wednesday morning.

Comox Valley RCMP said the 30-year-old man encountered another man at his home in the 5700-block of Highway 19A North and was shot after a brief interaction.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the suspected shooter, described as a young man between 20-25 years old, has not been found.

Anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious in the area around 1:25 a.m. is asked to call RCMP at 250-338-1321 and cite file number 2018-3288, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
