Ottawa motorists will be paying more to fill up the gas tank heading into the first weekend of October, with prices set to jump above $1.90 a litre. Gas prices increased seven cents a litre in Ottawa on Friday to an average of $1.85 a litre. Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague says prices are expected to increase another seven cents a litre on Friday to 192.7 cents a litre. The price of gas briefly hit 191.9 cents a litre in Ottawa two weeks ago, before a 10 cent a litre drop in prices due to the switch from summer-blend to winter-blend gasoline. Diesel prices are expected to drop eight cents a litre in Ottawa on Saturday to 251.9 cents a litre.
