Within four days this week, police in Sault Ste. Marie charged two men wanted in connection with a vicious assault on June 13. “911 communicators received multiple reports of masked people entering a residence in the 700 block of Wellington Street West and assaulting someone,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Friday. “An investigation revealed that – following a verbal altercation earlier in the evening – both accused attended the victim’s residence, disguised their faces with balaclavas, entered the residence, and assaulted them multiple times.” Police said the victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to hospital. According to police, officers picked up a 41-year-old man on June 14, while a 40-year-old man turned himself in to police on Wednesday. They face charges of assault causing bodily harm, breaking and entering a dwelling house along with two other offences. Police added that the victim and the accused were known to each other. Both men were held in custody pending bail hearings.
