A 22-year-old man from Thunder Bay has been charged after the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a vehicle that was travelling 217 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. Officers with the Shabaqua OPP detachment stopped the vehicle earlier this week. Along with stunt driving charges, the suspect’s vehicle was impounded for a week and his driver’s licence was suspended automatically for 30 days. “Just because your car can go that fast, doesn’t mean you should test it out on the highway,” the OPP said in a social media post about the incident. “Speeding remains one of the leading factors in serious collisions. No destination is worth the risk. Reduce your speed, stay alert, and make safety your priority every time you get behind the wheel.”
