A lucky lottery ticket purchased in Greater Sudbury has made one local player a millionaire after Wednesday night’s Lotto 6/49 draw, where all eyes were on the Gold Ball Prize worth $42 million. No one scored the top prize on Aug. 5, but one lucky winner did snag the White Ball Prize worth $1 million matching the winning numbers 54033987-01. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation confirmed Thursday, the $1-million winning ticket was sold somewhere in the City of Greater Sudbury. Other Ontario winners OLG said the $5-million Classic Jackpot ticket was sold in Scarborough, while a second-prize ticket worth more than $250,000 was sold in Milton. The winning numbers for Wednesday’s draw were 12, 30, 31, 35, 41, 48 and bonus number 21. Celebration ahead With multiple Ontario winners now holding tickets worth seven figures, OLG encouraged all players who purchased tickets in the Sudbury or Scarborough areas to check their numbers carefully. “Congratulations to the winners of these incredible prizes,” OLG said in a news release Thursday. “With big wins continuing across the province, we look forward to celebrating Ontario’s newest multimillionaires.” It’s been a while since someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Prize with Saturday’s jackpot estimated at $44 million. The last time someone won the Gold Ball Prize was June 6.
