A brawl outside a dépanneur in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough resulted in one person being sent to hospital early Friday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 12:30 a.m. about a group of young people at the corner of Papineau Avenue and de Maisonneuve Boulevard. When officers arrived, they dispersed the crowd of several dozen teens between the ages of 14 and 18. According to Florence Stafford, a spokesperson with Montreal police, as the force was gathering information, they realized that some people had started throwing things at a nearby dépanneur. Several employees were outside at the time, and a confrontation escalated between the two groups, resulting in a 21-year-old worker sustaining injuries to his upper body. He was transported to hospital, but his life is not considered to be in danger. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. With files from CTV News’ Olivia O’Malley.
