Freight train derailment continues to disrupt Exo Line 11 Vaudreuil–Hudson service

A freight train derailment caused an interruption on a portion of the Exo Line 11 Vaudreuil-Hudson on Wednesday morning.

The derailment occurred around 9 a.m. near the Dorion station. Exo said the incident did not involve any Exo trains.

In a statement, the freight train operator, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), said two empty cars of a CPKC train derailed. The company added that the incident is under investigation.

The commuter rail network said service is suspended between the Vaudreuil and Baie-d’Urfé stations. It added that it does not know when service will resume or when regular Exo service on the line will be restored.

The Baie-d’Urfé station is temporarily the terminal station of the Vaudreuil/Hudson line.

As a result, the following trains have been cancelled:

• 121 (departure at 4:20 p.m. from Lucien-L’Allie toward Vaudreuil)
• 23 (departure at 5 p.m. from Lucien-L’Allier station toward Vaudreuil)
• 25 (departure at 5:40 p.m. from Lucien-L’Allier station toward Vaudreuil)
• 26 (departure at 5 p.m. from Vaudreuil Station toward Montreal)

Shuttle services have been set up for users.

• Exo line 40 (Presqu’île sector) with the addition of shuttles from the Côte-Vertu terminus (platform 21) to the Vaudreuil terminus (platform 13)
• Service to Hudson station via Exo line 21 (Presqu’île sector) from the Vaudreuil terminus (platform 9)
• Transbus shuttle from the Côte-Vertu terminus (platform 21) with stops at Île-Perrot, Pincourt and Dorion stations, then at the Vaudreuil terminus
• Regular service - exo line 40 (Presqu’île sector) starting at 8 p.m. (end of service at 11:40 p.m.)
• Shuttle from the Côte-Vertu terminus (platform 21) with stops at the Île-Perrot, Pincourt and Dorion stations, then at the Vaudreuil terminus (end of service 10 p.m.)

“Teams remain mobilized to assess the potential impacts on rail service along Line 11 – Vaudreuil-Hudson as the situation evolves. Disruptions are expected for the rest of the day, including during the afternoon rush hour,” Exo said in a statement.

“Users are encouraged to check the Chrono app or our website for real-time service updates, and to use alternative transit options when possible.”
