A Communauto car crashed into a depanneur in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough during a police chase Thursday morning. Montreal police say they received a 911 call at 10:15 a.m. reporting a conflict between two people, including one of whom might have been armed with a “sharp object,” near the intersection of Courcelle and Dagenais streets. When officers arrived on scene, they found a group of people inside a car that then took off, heading southbound on Courcelle before colliding with the corner store minutes later. Firefighters helped the passengers inside the car and only one of them sustained injuries, which are not considered life-threatening. Five minors were detained at the scene and will be questioned by investigators to determine their involvement in the incident. One other person also fled the scene on foot, according to police. One person was inside the depanneur at the time of the crash but was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
