A Halifax high school is under a lockdown after an alleged threat. Halifax West High School on Thomas Raddall Drive received the threat around 12:25 p.m. Thursday. Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) says the threat was received over the phone during the school’s lunch hour. “Students and staff that were outside of the building at the time the threats were received have been directed away from the school to a safe gathering point,” reads a news release from Halifax Regional Police. Families are being asked not to come to the school. “We understand that a situation like this is very concerning. We want to assure families that we are taking every precaution to protect students and staff and are following the direction of police,” says Lindsey Bunin, an HRCE spokesperson. Officials say more information will be released once it’s available. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
