Midwestern Ontario hospitals split $11.5M in infrastructure funding

Officials with several midwestern Ontario hospitals are detailing how nearly $12 million in infrastructure funding will be spent.

New roofs, windows, and renovations will be completed at 10 hospitals in midwestern Ontario, thanks to $11.5 million in funding from the provincial government.

The Healthcare Infrastructure Renewal Fund helps cover the costs of needed infrastructure improvements at hospitals across Ontario.

It total, $257 million will be split amongst 126 hospitals across the province this year.

Goderich’s Alexandra Marine and General Hospital will receive $362,000, while the South Huron Hospital in Exeter will receive $350,000.

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance, which operates four hospitals in Huron and Perth Counties will receive upwards of $5 million.

“Investing in hospital infrastructure helps ensure patients and families in rural communities like ours continue to have access to high-quality care close to home,” said Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae. “As our communities grow, our government is strengthening local hospitals by investing in the facilities and infrastructure they need to deliver exceptional care today and for years to come.”
