An Aylmer woman is facing charges after an incident at a hospital involving police, emergency medical services personnel and an officer who was allegedly assaulted. Aylmer Police Service said officers were at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Aug. 6 with a person who had been transported to the hospital following a Mental Health Act arrest. Police allege that at about 6:05 p.m., the person became agitated and attempted to leave the hospital. While officers were attempting to gain control of the situation, an Aylmer police officer was allegedly kicked several times. Investigators further allege the person later made a threatening statement toward the officer, and while attempting to leave the hospital, damaged a Medavie Elgin EMS computer. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Aylmer woman has been charged.
