The first group of tent city campers has moved off the courthouse lawn and into a new housing complex on Victoria’s Johnson Street.
The Portland Hotel Society confirmed that the transition into the old Central Care Home on Johnson Street began on Tuesday.
The society won’t say how many campers have moved thus far or how long it will take to move all of the campers off the courthouse lawn.
The province said it expects approximately eight to 12 people to move in every day.
A court injunction has given the encampment until August 8 to vacate. A few campers have said they plan on staying at the camp.
