People who ate or drank at Roasti Coffee Co. on Brentwood Boulevard in Sherwood Park on two days in August may have been exposed to hepatitis A, said the Government of Alberta. In a Wednesday press release, the province said the possible exposures happened on Aug. 4 and 13, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Anyone who ate or drank at the coffee shop during those times may be eligible for post-exposure immunization, which can prevent illness if given within 14 days of exposure. The province said anyone who was possibly exposed should call Health Link 811 for assessment. Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver, caused by a virus. It can be spread by direct contact with an infected person, or by eating or drinking contaminated food and drink. Symptoms include: Some people, especially young children, may get hepatitis A infection without noticing any symptoms; however, they are still infectious to others. Anyone who may have been exposed and who does not get post-exposure immunization should watch for symptoms for 50 days after the potential exposure.
