The City of Edmonton and Edmonton Transit Service are partnering with United Way for the annual Stuff a Bus for Schools campaign. The city says one in six families in Edmonton experiences poverty, making school supplies an added financial pressure. This year, the program is expanding to include the municipalities of Strathcona County, Spruce Grove and St. Albert. Until Aug. 28, new school supplies can be dropped off in donation boxes at city-run facilities in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, and Spruce Grove. Monetary donations can be made online through the United Way’s All in for Youth website under the “designate a fund” section. On Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., local transit buses will be parked at participating Staples locations to collect school supply donations. Edmonton: Sherwood Park: United Way volunteers will also be at all Edmonton stores on Aug. 29 to accept debit, credit and cash donations.
