A humungous hole in downtown Edmonton is up for grabs. The Jameson pit, also known as the 121 Street Lands, has been listed for $4 million. The three-storey-deep excavation in Wîhkwêntôwin recently rose to (modest) local fame after the Edmonton Pit Tour launched this summer. Originally intended to house the 22-storey Jameson Tower, the now-major-eyesore has been sitting empty since Open Sky Developments broke ground in 2021 – that is, if you don’t count the burgeoning ecosystem. The pit’s site covers 18,061 square feet on 121 Street and 102 Avenue. The listing, from Jones Lang LaSalle Real Estate Services, touts the acquisition as a “shovel ready, high-rise development parcel.” “The Site has undergone excavation and shoring, providing an incoming purchaser an opportunity to fast-track construction,” the listing says. According to the brokers, building permits are ready to be issued and construction could resume immediately on the already approved development concept.
