The long weekend is the last call for Edmonton’s outdoor pools. All outdoor pools will be closed by Sept. 12, at the latest. Borden, Fred Broadstock and Mill Creek pools will close on Tuesday, while the Wîhkwêntôwin and Queen Elizabeth pools will stay open – if the weather is good – until Sept. 12. For the rest of the season, pools will move from timed entries to a first-come, first-served basis. “Despite this summer’s unpredictable weather and storms, we are glad Edmonton’s outdoor pools continue to be the place to gather and cool off during the hot summer months,” said Shauna Graham, the city’s site coordination and operations supervisor. As of Wednesday, 93,023 people visited an outdoor pool in 2026 – up from last year’s 78,707. Fred Broadstock, Mill Creek and Queen Elizabeth were the most frequented, all seeing upwards of 22,000 visitors.
