A poor choice in footwear may be to blame for a minor crash at a Quiznos on Douglas Street.

VicPD said they were initially called about a vehicle driving into the food restaurant on Thursday morning.

Once they arrived, officers realized the car hadn’t actually made its way into the store.

The vehicle had gone over the curb, hit one of the structure beams and landed into the front window, cracking the glass.

The store was closed at the time and no one was injured.

According to police, the woman driving the car was wearing crocs and her foot got caught between the accelerator and the brake.

“Always make sure you’re wearing proper footwear. Sometimes wearing sandals and such, sometimes your foot slides out of it and you have a greater difficulty in feeling your brakes and your pedal,” Const. Steven Twardy noted.

VicPD said no charges will be laid and city engineers will need to assess the damage.
