Students at a Greater Victoria school were kept inside for lunch and recess Friday – because of graffiti.
Officers were called to Colwood Elementary around 8:30 a.m. for what police described as “concerning” graffiti on the outside of the building.
A representative for the school board said the graffiti included a pot leaf and the number 98 along with a "threatening" message.
The district called it a low risk, but kept students inside for the day out of precaution.
RCMP forensics officers were called in to investigate, while additional Mounties and district staff were stationed at the school for the duration of the day.
Police aren’t saying what the message said but confirmed it wasn’t directed toward a specific target.
One person has been arrested in connection with the graffiti.
Their name or possible connection to the school has not been released.
