Nearly 200 children are taking part in the Calgary Flames Alumni’s seventh annual Alumni Hockey School, held in partnership with OPA! of Greece. The summer camp gives young players an opportunity to hit the ice with former Flames, including Matt Stajan and Curtis Glencross, and receive more than six hours of hands-on instruction. The program focuses on skill development in a high-energy environment while offering participants a chance to enjoy the game at all levels. This year’s camp is being held at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex, with sessions running Aug. 4 to 8 and Aug. 17 to 21. “There’s nothing better than sharing our love of the game with the next generation,” said Stajan, co-chair of the Alumni Hockey School. “The energy, the excitement, and seeing these kids grow their confidence and skills - it’s what makes this so special.” The program is open to players aged seven to 12. Each day includes a 75-minute on-ice session followed by an opportunity to meet alumni instructors.
