‘Moulin Rouge’ swing performer Justina Aveyard embraces the chaos of 6 jobs

“You had one job,” people will say.

Moulin Rouge performer Justina Aveyard has six.

“Yesterday, even, I was planning to go on for one track, and I got a call, maybe at 11, that I was going to be on for a different track,” Aveyard told CTV News.

“So, I think it’s just like, ‘OK, I’ve got this.’”

Aveyard, originally from Toronto, is a swing performer in the Tony-winning musical.

Aveyard admits she doesn’t know what role she’ll play when it takes the stage in Calgary on Jan. 6.

“That’s kind of the fun of it, too,” Aveyard said.

“I have been in the wrong wing, and I’m like, ‘I’m in the wrong wing!’ and you have to be like, ‘How am I going to get to where I need to go?’ and it’s just a fun game to figure it out as you go.”

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is at the Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary from Jan. 6 to 11.
