A low-pressure system produced light and scattered showers and thunderstorms in Alberta on Wednesday and will continue to impact eastern portions of Alberta and central and southern Saskatchewan on Thursday. Behind that low sits a ridge of high pressure that will settle over most of Alberta and B.C. in the coming days. It will be mainly sunny across southern Alberta on Thursday with Calgary’s high forecast to reach 17 C, which is normal for this time of year. The average overnight low in Calgary right now is 4 C, and after Thursday the forecast lows for the next week and half will range from 7 C to 12 C. Overnight lows will be slightly cooler in areas outside of Calgary, but should be warm enough to eliminate concerns about frost. There is a chance of scattered and mild thunderstorms initiating along the Foothills on Friday. The next significant chance of rain will be later on Monday and continuing for most of next week.
