The discovery of graffiti hinting at a bomb threat prompted RCMP to evacuate an elementary school in Nanaimo.

The disturbing graffiti was found at Cilaire Elementary Wednesday morning.

RCMP were contacted immediately by school officials, who evacuated the building and moved students to the nearby Church of Nazarene.

Investigators gave the school the all-clear just before noon and said any remaining students whose parents had not picked them up would be returning to the school.

"The district, as well as the RCMP will continue to treat these threats very seriously. Your child’s education and safety remains our top priority," principal Carie Wood said in a letter to parents.

Anyone with information on the threat is urged to contact Wood at the school or report it to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
