Two people are facing numerous firearms, drug and stolen property charges after London police recovered a stolen SUV and seized three sawed-off shotguns during an arrest in the city’s downtown core. London police say officers were notified Sunday that an SUV reported stolen from outside London a day earlier had been linked to several incidents. Around 7:30 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Dundas Street, where officers located the vehicle with two people inside. Investigators allege the driver attempted to flee when officers tried to stop the SUV. Police say the vehicle reversed into an unmarked police vehicle before striking a marked cruiser. Officers used police vehicles to contain the SUV in a parking lot and prevent it from leaving the area. The driver and passenger were arrested without further incident. According to police, a search of the vehicle uncovered three sawed-off shotguns, multiple rounds of ammunition and a quantity of illegal drugs. As a result, two people have each been charged with: One of the suspects is also charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. The other faces additional charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
