Thousands of people are expected to line the shores of Georgian Bay for the finale night of the 10th annual tradition in Wasaga Beach. Named one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events last year, Memories of Summer is a free concert event and official sign-off to summer. For Saturday night, residents and visitors can take in Legends of Motown, a 16-piece ensemble performing timeless classics from the genre, including artists like The Supremes and Marvin Gaye. The night will end in a dazzling fireworks show over Georgian Bay. “Memories of Summer is the perfect end-off to your summer experience,” Lisa Linhares, Special Events Coordinator with the Town of Wasaga Beach. “We’ve got the water, we’ve got the waves and we’ve got great music.” Last year, the festival drew more than 10,000 people. “We’re expecting big crowds. This is always a huge event for those who come out from other parts of Ontario to visit us but especially for our local residents – it’s really a huge event for everybody.” Attendees can take a spin in the 65-foot Ferris wheel, which will be on site as well. The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. in the 4th Street parking lot by Beach Area 2 and the night will be hosted by CTV’s KC Colby.
