The Stephen Leacock Museum in Orillia wants you to ditch the warm and fuzzy feelings of the season and add a little mystery to your life instead. Guests can almost hear the creaking footsteps leading to Murder by the Book, the museum’s newest exhibit. Visitors can dive into the worlds of famous mystery authors like Edgar Allan Poe and Leacock himself. It’s a suspenseful journey packed with plots, twists, and a few clues along the way, including an interactive board game that puts you right in the middle of the mystery. “We actually have a Clue board in the middle of the room so people can play the game themselves. Clue was actually very important to murder mystery novels and has quite the history to it as well,” says Experience Development Officer at the museum, Amanda Marino. The public can even put on a Sherlock Holmes detective hat and interactively decipher clues hidden throughout the room. Murder by the Book is open until spring 2026.
