Sterling Point, a summer drama recently released on Prime Video, is getting buzz especially in our region, as it was filmed in Muskoka. And one business is having some fun online, by connecting themselves with the show. Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville created a social media post titled, “still time for a sterling point summer,” along with a video showcasing the Muskoka life. Shots show sparkling lakes, jet skis and boats, and families hanging out on the dock. The caption makes nods to the premise of the show, saying things like, “a lake that looks like it belongs on a screen” and “a dock to end the day on” and “a cottage-style stay that feels like it’s been in the family for years, even if it’s your first time here.” Sterling Point is about a girl from New York who makes her way across the border into Canada after discovering her estranged grandfather died and left her and her twin brother an island in Muskoka. The post finishes by saying “Muskoka’s been the real star all along – come see why everyone’s suddenly discovering it.” It certainly does seem like more and more shows are being set in Muskoka and the rest of the world is catching onto why it’s so special. This isn’t the first time a business has capitalized on the success of a show filmed in this region to create a promotional campaign. Discover Muskoka put together a campaign during the hype surrounding Canadian hockey drama Heated Rivalry. Sterling Point made international headlines this week after the star of the show appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show and discussed how beautiful Muskoka really is.
