Despite a comfortable daytime high, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued warnings to residents about what to expect. Residents of Barrie have been issued a yellow frost warning by ECCC. “Patchy frost is expected early this morning in some areas, temperatures will rise quickly to well above freezing after sunrise,” ECCC warns. The warning comes with a recommendation from ECCC to take care of plants and crops that are extra sensitive to cold by bringing them indoors or covering them up if they grow in frost-prone areas. According to the weather organization, Friday’s daytime high is three degrees above the seasonal average, at 20 C. ECCC says the overnight low is expected to get down to 7 C, much closer to the season average of 6 C. With the exception of some fog expected to form in the late night hours, conditions remain otherwise clear and the UV index is rated at five.
