Barrie police say investigators have “positively linked” one man to a series of break-and-enters across the city. Police say it took hours of combing through CCTV footage, but an arrest has been made and one man is believed to be connected to 14 break-and-enter incidents that occurred between June 29 and July 29. The arrest was made by police near Milligan’s pond on July 30, with the help of the canine unit. Police say the suspect, a 42-year-old man, has been charged with 14 counts of break-and-enter, 10 counts of wearing a disguise with intent and four counts of possession of break-in instruments. The investigation remains ongoing, as police say the suspect may be connected to as many as 16 more break-and-enter incidents. Detectives are asking anyone with video surveillance footage of any “suspicious activity” that occurred between the end of June and the end of July, in the area of Anne Street from Ferndale Drive to Innisfil Street, or St. Vincent Street between Livingstone Street and Bell Farm Road, to contact police. Police say additional charges may be laid against the suspect later on.
