A Barrie man in his 50s is facing serious charges after an investigation and arrest by Barrie police. Police say the investigation of a man in possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material began on Tuesday. On Wednesday Barrie police’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit executed a search warrant in the city that resulted in the seizure of a “recording device.” The next day, police executed another search warrant that resulted in the seizure of a computer. On Friday, police announced that a 52-year-old is facing a number of criminal charges related to the warrant. The man is facing criminal charges of possessing, accessing and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, making sexually explicit material available to a child and one count of voyeurism. Police say the electric devices seized are still being examined, which could result in additional charges at a later time as the investigation continues.
