Halifax police arrest man in Dartmouth, lay firearm charges

Halifax police have arrested a 34-year-old man in Dartmouth in relation to a firearm investigation.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Courtney Road around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.

They reportedly seized a loaded firearm, ammunition, a replica BB handgun and stolen property.

Another man and woman were also arrested at the scene but were later released without charges.

Police say Michael Saulnier is set to appear in Halifax provincial court Thursday to face charges of:

• unauthorized possession of firearm
• possession a weapon dangerous to public peace
• storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon/ammunition with no licence
• possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• possession of a firearm in vehicle
• two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order/fail to surrender
• possession of a firearm/prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
• two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• carrying concealed weapon
