A man from Sackville, N.B., pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Moncton provincial court on Friday. He also pleaded guilty to charges of improperly or indecently interfering with a dead body, according to RCMP. The charges stem from a murder nearly three years ago. Members of the Sackville RCMP responded to a wellbeing check for a woman living at a residence on King Street on Oct. 12, 2023. When police arrived, they found the Marlene Cheryl Crossman’s remains. The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit ruled Crossman’s death a homicide. The same day the remains were found, a 62-year-old man turned himself in to the Antigonish RCMP detachment in Nova Scotia. Roger Hilyard Crossman appeared in Moncton provincial court the next day and was charged with first-degree murder. His next scheduled court appearance is Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. for sentencing.
