About a dozen people in Saint John were taken to hospital after a carbon monoxide leak Friday. It happened at the Cooke building on Carlton Street in the city’s uptown. According to Joel Richardson, the vice president of public relations with Cooke, employees on the upper floors began feeling unwell. About a dozen employees were taken to hospital for a precautionary check via a city bus. Richardson said it appears some kind of furnace issue in the basement caused the leak. He said they are grateful to the fire department for the quick response. Police, fire and EMS attended the scene, as did Liberty Utilities.
