A young Victoria man who was injured in the mass shooting in Las Vegas is back on Vancouver Island.

Sheldon Mack returned home to Victoria on Wednesday on a medevac flight almost two weeks after the attack.

Mack’s father Hudson says his son is doing well.

"He is making excellent progress and will continue his medical treatment and recovery here," Hudson told CTV News.

On Oct. 1, the 21 year old suffered two gunshot wounds when a gunman opened fire at a concert on the Vegas strip, killing nearly 60 people and injuring hundreds more.

Mack was rushed into emergency surgery for a ruptured colon and injured arm and was undergoing treatment in a U.S. hospital since.

As he was recovering he was reunited with the two men who helped save his life.

A GoFundMe campaign raised more than $27,000 to cover the family’s medical and travel expenses.
