Victoria police are warning people who live in Esquimalt that a cougar has been spotted in the area.
VicPD says it was called to the 300-block of Plaskett Place around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The cougar was last seen in the Work Point property.
Police are urging residents to be extra cautious while in the area.

B.C. RCMP say cougars occasionally stray into residential areas and shouldn’t be approached.
The last reported cougar sighting was at a woman’s home on Whiffin Spit earlier this month. The big cat came up onto the deck and peered through her window.
The Conservation Officer Service asks anyone who spots a cougar to report the sighting to their RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
